Jazz, Pakistan’s leading digital operator, is making massive strides in accelerating the nation’s digital transformation. In the first half of 2025, Jazz poured PKR 25.5 billion into infrastructure expansion, driving a robust 17.7% growth. This significant investment is focused on broadening 4G coverage, scaling up digital platforms, and boosting financial inclusion, all to ensure millions of Pakistanis have access to affordable, high-quality digital services.
Strong Performance in Q2 2025
The second quarter of 2025 saw Jazz maintain its impressive momentum. Revenue climbed 15.3% year-on-year in local currency, primarily fueled by strong telecom operations and an outstanding 35.7% growth in digital revenue. Digital services now contribute 28.1% of Jazz’s total revenue, up from 23.9% last year. EBITDA saw a healthy 5.4% increase with a 41.6% margin, highlighting Jazz’s successful pivot towards becoming a “ServiceCo.” The company also invested PKR 16 billion in capital expenditure, reinforcing its dedication to fortifying Pakistan’s digital backbone.
JazzCash: Empowering Financial Inclusion
JazzCash, Pakistan’s top digital financial service, continues to revolutionize the financial landscape. With over 21 million monthly active users, it processed an astounding PKR 11.7 trillion in gross transaction value over the last twelve months (as of Q2 2025). Its vast network of 367,000 active merchants and nearly 107,000 active agents has been instrumental in digitalizing society, facilitating over 140,000 digital loans daily.
CEO’s Vision for a Digital Pakistan
Aamir Ibrahim, CEO of Jazz, emphasized the dual success of the company. “Our second quarter results reflect not only strong financial performance but also our commitment to Pakistan’s digital future,” he stated. “In the first half of the year, we accelerated investments in 4G, digital platforms, and financial inclusion, while optimizing our portfolio through initiatives like the Deodar transaction. These steps are laying the foundation for a more inclusive and future-ready economy, where connectivity and capability work together to improve the lives of millions of Pakistanis.”
Expanding Connectivity and User Base
Jazz’s subscriber base grew to 73.9 million, with 4G users reaching 54.6 million – a 15.3% increase year-on-year, pushing 4G penetration to 73.9%. The adoption of advanced voice technologies also surged, with VoLTE users hitting 32 million and VoWiFi daily active users reaching 5.22 million, enabling seamless, high-quality calls even without traditional cellular coverage. Multiplay customers (users subscribing to multiple services) expanded by 29.2% year-on-year, now making up 36.4% of the base and generating over 3.2 times the average revenue per user (ARPU) compared to voice-only users.
A Thriving Digital Ecosystem
Jazz’s diverse digital platforms are experiencing remarkable growth. Tamasha, its entertainment app, recorded over 12 million monthly active users (MAUs) in Q2, peaking at 17 million during major cricket tournaments in April. SIMOSA, Jazz’s self-care, lifestyle, and social app, reached an impressive 21.2 million MAUs. FikrFree, the insurtech app, showed early promise with 9.8 million active policies and 2.2 million MAUs, underscoring its rapid traction.
Strategic Focus: From Connectivity to Capability
In a move to streamline operations and enhance its asset-light strategy, Jazz successfully transferred its tower assets via Deodar to Engro Connect. This transaction allows Jazz to focus more intensely on scaling its digital ecosystem and reinforces its identity as Pakistan’s leading ServiceCo. Serving over 100 million users, Jazz’s portfolio now spans fintech (JazzCash), entertainment (Tamasha), digital self-care (SIMOSA), insurtech (FikrFree), enterprise cloud solutions (Garaj), and gaming (GameNow). This strategic evolution highlights Jazz’s commitment to moving beyond just providing connectivity, to building powerful platforms that leverage technology to enhance the lives and livelihoods of Pakistanis.
