Oura Launches New Pregnancy & Perimenopause Features
Oura rolls out new features for pregnancy and perimenopause
One common challenge with fitness trackers is their limited ability to grasp the unique life contexts of their users. Oura is directly addressing this by introducing two thoughtful new feature sets aimed at supporting individuals through pregnancy and perimenopause. Both of these life stages can bring significant physical, mental, and emotional shifts, making a smart ring that truly understands these changes an invaluable tool.
For pregnant users, the Oura app will now meticulously monitor biometrics throughout pregnancy, comparing them against wider population data. You’ll also gain access to in-depth trend analyses, showing how your health and fitness evolve over the course of your pregnancy. A particularly welcome addition is that the app and its AI advisor will be understanding, rather than judgmental, if your lifestyle naturally becomes more sedentary towards the end of your pregnancy.
Perimenopause refers to the transitional period leading up to menopause, often marked by symptoms like mood swings, depression, brain fog, muscle soreness, and difficulty sleeping. Surprisingly, data from earlier this year indicates that a significant portion of people have little to no understanding of this condition, its symptoms, or available treatments.
Oura seeks to bridge this knowledge gap with its new Perimenopause Check-in, integrated into the existing Cycle Insights feature. Users will be able to complete a 12-question assessment to rate the severity of their symptoms, helping to quantify the impact on their quality of life. This assessment can then be turned into a downloadable report, which users can easily share with their healthcare providers to aid in discussions about symptom management. Additionally, the Oura app will integrate with various healthcare providers, including Evernow, Maven, and Progyny, offering guidance on treatment options such as hormone therapy.
