Oura Smart Ring Launches New Features for Pregnancy & Perimenopause

Oura rolls out new features for pregnancy and perimenopause

Fitness trackers are great for monitoring our bodies, but they often miss the bigger picture – the life context of their users. Oura is aiming to change that with the launch of two new feature sets specifically designed to support individuals through pregnancy and the perimenopausal transition. Given the significant physical, mental, and emotional changes that occur during these periods, having a smart ring that truly understands what’s going on can be invaluable.

For those navigating pregnancy, the Oura app will now intelligently monitor your biometrics, cross-referencing them with broader population data to provide a clearer understanding of your body’s shifts. You’ll also gain access to deep-dive trend analyses, illustrating how your health and fitness evolve throughout your pregnancy journey. Crucially, the app and its AI advisor will adapt, offering understanding and support rather than admonishment if your activity levels naturally become more sedentary towards the end of your term.

Perimenopause marks the period of hormonal fluctuations and changes leading up to menopause itself. This can bring a range of challenging symptoms, including mood swings, depression, “brain fog,” muscle soreness, and difficulty sleeping. Recent data highlights a concerning lack of public awareness, with many individuals having limited knowledge about perimenopause, its symptoms, or available treatments.

Oura is addressing this gap with its new “Perimenopause Check-in,” integrated into the existing Cycle Insights feature. Users can complete a 12-question assessment to quantify the severity of their symptoms and understand the overall impact on their quality of life. This information can then be compiled into a downloadable report, perfect for sharing with healthcare providers to facilitate more informed discussions about symptoms and their effects. Furthermore, the Oura app will integrate directly with various healthcare providers, including Evernow, Maven, and Progyny, offering a pathway to guidance on treatments like hormone therapy.

This expanded functionality from Oura signifies a significant step towards creating more personalized and context-aware health tracking, empowering users through some of life’s most transformative stages.
