A Digital Pakistan: Jazz-USF Partnership Powers Connectivity in Underserved Regions

A Nation Connected: Jazz-USF Partnership Lights Up Underserved Regions with Digital Access

Jazz, Pakistan’s leading digital operator, is steadfast in its mission to empower communities across the nation. Through its enduring partnership with the Universal Service Fund (USF), Jazz is actively working to bridge the digital divide, bringing high-speed connectivity to millions in Pakistan’s most remote and underserved regions. This collaboration ensures that digital inclusion isn’t just a concept but a tangible reality for all.

The journey of empowerment with USF began for Jazz in 2007, significantly accelerating from 2018 onwards under pivotal initiatives like Broadband for Sustainable Development (BSD) and Next Generation BSD (NGBSD). To date, this powerful partnership has culminated in 24 completed projects, witnessing the deployment of 730 new sites and the vital upgrade of 814 existing ones. This massive undertaking has successfully extended 4G access to over 10.4 million people across more than 4,900 previously unconnected locations.

Beyond just numbers, these efforts have had a profound impact on national infrastructure and local communities. Connectivity now extends across crucial national highways, including M3, M4, M5, and M14, fostering safer travel and economic activity. Moreover, iconic tourist destinations like Kumrat Valley, Katora Lake, Lake Saiful Malook, and Lulusar Lake are now digitally empowered, benefiting both visitors and local residents.

Looking ahead, Jazz is set to further amplify its impact. In 2025, the company secured five additional USF projects, promising to bring digital access to nearly 1 million more people. These ambitious plans will connect 400 villages across 10 districts in South, Central, and North Pakistan, underscoring a nationwide commitment.

Syed Zaheer Mehdi, Group Chief Corporate and Regulatory Officer at Jazz, articulates the core philosophy driving this partnership: “Our partnership with USF is rooted in a simple belief: connectivity is empowerment. Every connection we enable opens a world of possibilities for education, healthcare, commerce, and community. At Jazz, our mission is to ensure that no one is left behind in Pakistan’s digital future, and through USF, we are bringing opportunities to lives that were once cut off from them.”

Through this unwavering commitment, Jazz continues to champion its vision of a truly Digital Pakistan, where seamless connectivity serves as the bedrock for nationwide empowerment and progress.
