95% of Flood-Hit Telecom Sites Restored: Punjab Faces Final Hurdle

95% of Flood-Affected Telecom Sites Restored Nationwide

Amidst the challenging backdrop of heavy rains and widespread flooding, a significant stride has been made in restoring telecommunication services across the nation. Out of 4,349 telecom sites initially affected by the natural disaster, a remarkable 4,137 have already been brought back online. This means approximately 95% of the impacted sites are now fully functional, reconnecting communities and businesses.

However, the journey isn’t over yet. Restoration efforts are intensely focused on the remaining 212 sites that are still out of service. All of these remaining sites are concentrated in Punjab, where persistent waterlogging has posed considerable obstacles. The flooding has not only caused widespread power outages but also led to technical disruptions in the power supply specifically to the telecom infrastructure, significantly slowing down the recovery process in these areas.

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), in close collaboration with various telecom companies, is working tirelessly to expedite the restoration of these remaining sites. They have assured the public that round-the-clock efforts are underway to ensure the stability of mobile and internet services for users in the affected regions.

The situation is under constant vigilance through the National Emergency Telecommunication Coordination Center. This center is playing a crucial role by coordinating with all relevant stakeholders to resolve power supply issues and accelerate the restoration efforts in the hardest-hit areas of Punjab.

Authorities and telecom operators are optimistic that as soon as the floodwaters recede, the remaining sites will be swiftly brought back into operation. They reiterate their firm commitment to ensuring uninterrupted mobile and internet connectivity, which is vital during this ongoing emergency.
