Ford F-150 Lightning STX Replaces XLT with Enhanced Range, Power, and Rugged Style

Ford’s F-150 Lightning STX replaces the XLT while boosting range and power

Ford has just pulled the wraps off an exciting new addition to its F-150 Lightning family: the STX variant. This new model is engineered to deliver a more rugged attitude, coupled with significant boosts in both range and power, making it a compelling option for electric truck enthusiasts. The move comes as Ford aims to address customer feedback and potentially re-energize F-150 Lightning sales, with the STX stepping in to replace the current XLT model at the same attractive starting price.

Slotting into the lineup just above the base Lightning Pro, the STX trim offers substantial upgrades over the XLT it replaces. Under the hood, the new dual-motor system unleashes an impressive 536 horsepower, a considerable jump from the XLT’s 452 horsepower, while retaining a hefty 775 pound-feet of torque. For many, the biggest news will be the enhanced range: the STX is projected to achieve 290 miles on a single charge, a welcome increase from the XLT’s 240 miles, making longer journeys more feasible.

Beyond the performance gains, the STX truly distinguishes itself with a host of rugged cosmetic enhancements. Drivers will find new off-road wheels, robust all-terrain tires, and practical running boards borrowed directly from the F-150 Tremor. The exterior features a fresh grille, while the interior can be optioned with a durable black vinyl floor, accented with subtle blue lines, and branded with STX badging prominently displayed, even on the seats. To further personalize the look, Ford is introducing two new exclusive paint colors: Argon Blue and Marsh Gray.

Ford is bullish on the STX’s market potential, with internal forecasts predicting it will become a top seller in the coming year. Will Marchand, marketing manager, highlighted the customer demand in a press release, stating, “Customers have been asking for a rugged F-150 Lightning with more range than the standard range XLT. Until now, if these owners wanted a rugged F-150 Lightning, they had to turn to the aftermarket to build the truck they wanted.” The F-150 Lightning STX is expected to arrive at Ford dealerships early next year, with a starting price of $63,345 before destination charges.
