Nintendo Direct September 12: Switch 2 & New Game Reveals

Get ready, Nintendo fans, because a major event is just around the corner! Nintendo has officially announced an hour-long Direct presentation scheduled for September 12 at 9 AM ET. While Friday Directs are a bit unusual, we’re certainly not complaining, especially with whispers of a special Mario-related reason for the timing. You can catch all the action live on YouTube or through the Nintendo Today! app.

This highly anticipated showcase promises a deep dive into upcoming titles for both the Nintendo Switch and the much-talked-about Switch 2. We can safely expect to hear more about games like *Pokémon Legends: Z-A* and *Kirby Air Riders*, both currently slated for 2025 releases. These titles are set to significantly boost demand for the Switch 2 as we head into the holiday season – as if Nintendo needed any extra help! It would also be a major surprise if we don’t get a definitive release date (or perhaps, a delay) for *Metroid Prime 4: Beyond*, which is still on track for release this year.

Beyond these safe bets, the rest of the Direct remains a delightful mystery. Could we finally get a tease for the next big *Zelda* adventure? Nintendo has a history of announcing *The Legend of Zelda* titles well in advance, as they did with *Tears of the Kingdom* four years before its launch. And with this Saturday marking the 40th anniversary of the Japanese release of *Super Mario Bros.*, it’s almost guaranteed there will be some kind of celebratory announcement for our favorite plumber.

We might also receive fresh details on FromSoftware’s intriguing Switch 2 exclusive, *The Duskbloods*. As Nintendo begins to flesh out its 2026 game lineup for the Switch 2, expect a diverse mix of both first-party heavy hitters and exciting third-party contributions. It’s shaping up to be an unmissable hour for Nintendo enthusiasts!
