Digital Pakistan: Jazz-USF Partnership Bridges the Divide with 4G Access
A Nation Connected: Jazz-USF Partnership Lights Up Underserved Regions with Digital Access
In an increasingly digital world, access to high-speed internet isn’t just a convenience – it’s a fundamental right that unlocks opportunities in education, healthcare, commerce, and community building. Jazz, Pakistan’s leading digital operator, alongside the Universal Service Fund (USF), is steadfastly working to make this a reality for millions, bridging the digital divide across Pakistan’s most remote and underserved regions.
This powerful collaboration dates back to 2007, but it truly gained momentum from 2018 onwards with the launch of the Broadband for Sustainable Development (BSD) and Next Generation BSD (NGBSD) initiatives. The results speak volumes: Jazz has successfully completed 24 projects, deploying 730 new mobile sites and upgrading 814 existing ones. This massive undertaking has brought 4G connectivity to over 10.4 million people in more than 4,900 locations that were previously cut off from the digital world.
Beyond connecting individual communities, these efforts have extended high-speed access across vital national highways, including M3, M4, M5, and M14, ensuring smoother travel and better communication for commuters and businesses alike. Moreover, the partnership has empowered communities and boosted tourism in iconic natural destinations such as Kumrat Valley, Katora Lake, Lake Saiful Malook, and Lulusar Lake, allowing visitors and locals to share their experiences and access essential services.
Looking ahead, 2025 marks another significant step forward. Jazz has secured five additional USF projects, promising to bring digital access to nearly one million more people across 400 villages in 10 diverse districts spanning South, Central, and North Pakistan.
Syed Zaheer Mehdi, Group Chief Corporate and Regulatory Officer at Jazz, perfectly encapsulates the driving force behind this initiative: “Our partnership with USF is rooted in a simple belief: connectivity is empowerment. Every connection we enable opens a world of possibilities for education, healthcare, commerce, and community. At Jazz, our mission is to ensure that no one is left behind in Pakistan’s digital future, and through USF, we are bringing opportunities to lives that were once cut off from them.”
Jazz’s unwavering commitment reaffirms its vision for a truly Digital Pakistan, where reliable connectivity serves as the essential foundation for nationwide empowerment and sustained progress.
