Hades II Launches September 25 on Switch, Switch 2, PC & Mac

Get ready, Nintendo fans! Supergiant Games has officially announced that the full 1.0 version of Hades II will be launching on September 25th for both Nintendo Switch and the upcoming Switch 2. Following a tradition, Supergiant chose a Nintendo Direct to drop this massive news, much like they did with the original Hades five years ago.

While this is fresh news for console players, PC gamers have actually been diving into Hades II’s early access for a solid 16 months. And the reception? Phenomenal! With over 63,000 “very positive” Steam reviews (and “overwhelmingly positive” in English), it’s clear the game is already a hit. The September 25th release marks not only its highly anticipated console debut but also the moment players can experience the game’s true ending for the first time.

Though the Nintendo Direct naturally focused on Switch, we already knew that PC and Mac versions would be launching simultaneously. So expect those Steam and Epic Games Store pages to update with the 1.0 version very soon! And for PlayStation and Xbox fans, don’t despair – like its predecessor, Hades II is likely a timed console exclusive, meaning you can probably look forward to versions for your platforms sometime down the road.

Supergiant has also shared some exciting technical details, especially concerning performance. On the new Switch 2, Hades II will support a buttery-smooth 120 frames per second when docked in TV mode! For handheld play on the Switch 2, it will run at 60 fps in 1080p, while the original Switch will also manage 60 fps, albeit at 720p. And here’s another bonus: both Switch versions will support cross-save functionality with your Steam and Epic Games Store progress!

For those unfamiliar with the sequel, Hades II shifts the spotlight from Zagreus to his compelling sister, Melinoë. As the Princess of the Underworld, she’s embarking on her own epic roguelike journey to confront none other than Chronos, the formidable Titan of Time and, by all accounts, a massive jerk.
