How to watch Gamescom 2025 and what to expect

It feels like the last big gaming event is just behind us, and yet another massive video game extravaganza is on the horizon. Gamescom, the planet’s largest gaming event, promises a flurry of exciting new game reveals, especially during the highly anticipated Opening Night Live showcase. We might even finally get that *Hollow Knight: Silksong* release date! Xbox will be broadcasting live from the show floor for two days, and there are several other presentations you won’t want to miss.

Gamescom 2025 is scheduled to take place between August 20 and 24, and details about the various showcases are starting to emerge. The event kicks off with Opening Night Live, hosted by Geoff Keighley, bridging his major events like Summer Game Fest Live and The Game Awards. This will be followed by two days of Xbox broadcasts, the latest edition of the Future Games Show, and three days of streams from Bethesda.

Ubisoft will also be sharing news on *The Division 2*, with two panels dedicated to the franchise. One will cover *The Division Resurgence* (a mobile game), and the other will reveal more about a “big Division 2 project.”

We’ll keep updating this guide with more Gamescom details as they become available, and embed streams once they’re live. Here’s your complete breakdown of how to watch Gamescom 2025 and what to expect from the event.

While Opening Night Live might not always feature as many major announcements as Summer Game Fest Live or The Game Awards, Call of Duty fans should definitely tune in. The two-hour showcase will include the “worldwide reveal” of *Call of Duty: Black Ops 7*, and a release date is highly anticipated.

Considering that *Hollow Knight: Silksong* will be playable at Microsoft’s Gamescom booth on PC and ROG Xbox Ally X, and it’s still slated for release this year, this event seems like the perfect opportunity for that long-awaited release date. More eyes will be on ONL than Microsoft’s dedicated streams, making it the most likely spot for concrete *Silksong* news.

You can also expect a new trailer for the multiplayer RPG *Honor of Kings: World*, along with fresh looks at *Ghost of Yotei*, *The Outer Worlds 2*, *Resident Evil Requiem*, *Silent Hill f*, *Ninja Gaiden 4*, *Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion*, and *The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin*. The opening cinematic for the *World of Warcraft: Midnight* expansion will also be revealed.

It won’t be all game reveals; there will be a music performance from *Clair Obscur: Expedition 33* featuring composer Lorien Testard and vocalist Alice Duport-Percier. Plus, get an exclusive sneak peek at season two of Prime Video’s *Fallout* series, arriving in December.

A significant announcement expected from Xbox during one of its streams (if not at ONL) is the release date and pricing for the ASUS ROG Xbox Ally and Xbox Ally X handheld systems. Leaks suggest these devices will launch on October 16, at least in Europe, priced at €599 for the Xbox Ally and €899 for the higher-end Xbox Ally X.

Microsoft previously confirmed these handhelds would be available for the holiday season, so the rumored date makes sense. We should get official confirmation during Gamescom, especially since the company plans to discuss the handhelds during its August 20 stream.

This event will feature updates on games like *Grounded 2*, *Keeper*, and *Call of Duty: Black Ops 7*. *The Order of Giants*, an expansion for *Indiana Jones and the Great Circle*, will be showcased alongside *Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade*, *Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024*, *Dying Light: The Beast*, *World of Warcraft: Midnight*, *Hotel Barcelona*, *Invincible Vs.*, *Cronos: The New Dawn*, *Outbound*, *Powerwash Simulator 2*, and *Starsand Island*.

In addition to the English broadcast, Xbox’s streams will be available in Traditional Chinese, German, French, Japanese, Brazilian Portuguese, and Mexican Spanish, as well as with ASL and English audio descriptions, on regional Xbox channels across YouTube, Twitch, TikTok, and Facebook.

The Indie Arena Booth will showcase over 200 games for Gamescom attendees, but you won’t need to be there in person to see many of them. The hour-long Awesome Indies showcase promises “exclusive trailers, first peeks at never-before-seen gameplay, amazing premieres and exciting newcomers.”
