Oura Unveils New Features for Pregnancy & Perimenopause Health
Oura Rolls Out New Features for Pregnancy and Perimenopause
Traditional fitness trackers often miss the personal context of their users’ lives. Recognizing this gap, Oura is launching significant new features designed to support individuals through two crucial life stages: pregnancy and perimenopause. Both periods bring profound physical, mental, and emotional shifts, making a smart ring that truly understands these changes an invaluable tool.
For expecting mothers, the Oura app will now intelligently monitor biometrics throughout pregnancy, comparing individual data against broader population trends. Users will gain access to detailed trend analyses, illustrating how their health and fitness evolve during this time. Crucially, the app and its AI advisor will offer understanding and support, rather than judgment, if activity levels naturally decrease towards the later stages of pregnancy.
Perimenopause marks the transitional phase leading up to menopause, often accompanied by a range of challenging symptoms like mood swings, depression, brain fog, muscle soreness, and sleep difficulties. A significant issue is the widespread lack of awareness; recent data suggests that a third of people have limited to no knowledge of perimenopause, its symptoms, or available treatments.
Oura aims to empower users facing perimenopause with its new Perimenopause Check-in feature, integrated within Cycle Insights. Users can complete a concise 12-question assessment to gauge the severity of their symptoms and quantify their impact on daily life. This information can then be compiled into a downloadable report, perfect for sharing with healthcare providers to facilitate more informed discussions and treatment plans. Additionally, Oura is integrating with leading healthcare platforms like Evernow, Maven, and Progyny, offering direct access to guidance on treatment options, including hormone therapy.
