Pakistani Girl Wins Global AI Challenge with Groundbreaking Agriculture Solution

A young AS level STEM student from Pakistan, Mahroosh Umer, recently led a multinational team to win the highly competitive AI 4 Good Incubator 2025. This global techthon-style challenge drew participants from hundreds of countries, all tasked with answering a critical question: “How might we use AI to accelerate the journey to net zero?”

Mahroosh’s team presented AgriGuard.AI, an innovative AI-powered platform aimed at transforming agriculture for smallholder farmers. The platform is designed to help them adopt climate-smart practices, significantly improve soil health, and even generate additional income through carbon credits. By leveraging satellite imagery and detailed soil data, AgriGuard.AI provides personalized, actionable advice, making sustainable farming both profitable and easily accessible.

Mahroosh played a pivotal role in the project by creating an interactive prototype of the solution using Glide. This enabled farmers to visualize how the technology would function in their daily operations, demonstrating how AI insights could be seamlessly integrated into their decision-making processes.

The AI 4 Good Incubator 2025 saw innovators from all corners of the world compete, but it was AgriGuard.AI’s unique combination of advanced technology, significant environmental impact, and clear economic benefits that ultimately secured the top prize.
