Pakistani Girl Wins Global AI Challenge with Groundbreaking Agriculture Solution

A brilliant young mind from Pakistan, Mahroosh Umer, an AS level STEM student, has led a multinational team to triumph in the highly competitive AI 4 Good Incubator 2025. This global techthon, which saw participation from hundreds of countries, challenged innovators to tackle a critical question: “How might we use AI to accelerate the journey to net zero?”

Mahroosh’s team rose to the occasion with their innovative solution, AgriGuard.AI. This AI-powered platform is designed to empower smallholder farmers by helping them embrace climate-smart agricultural practices, enhance soil health, and generate additional income through carbon credits. By leveraging satellite imagery and detailed soil data, AgriGuard.AI delivers personalized, actionable advice, making sustainable farming not just an environmental imperative but also a profitable venture.

Mahroosh herself played a pivotal role in the project’s success. She meticulously prototyped the AgriGuard.AI solution using Glide, creating an intuitive and interactive demonstration. This prototype allowed farmers to clearly visualize how AI-driven insights could be seamlessly integrated into their daily farming decisions, bridging the gap between cutting-edge technology and practical application.

Among a field of global innovators, AgriGuard.AI stood out for its compelling blend of advanced technology, significant environmental impact, and tangible economic benefits for farmers. It was this holistic approach that ultimately secured the top prize in the AI 4 Good Incubator 2025, marking a remarkable achievement for Mahroosh Umer and her team.
