Punjab Safe Cities App: Free Internet Use & Enhanced Safety Features

**Punjab Safe Cities Authority’s Public Safety Mobile App Can Now be Used Without Internet**

The Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) has just launched an enhanced version of its Public Safety App, significantly boosting citizen protection and making emergency services more accessible than ever before. In a fantastic development, Managing Director Muhammad Ahsan Younis confirmed that thanks to an agreement with the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, the app will be completely free of data charges for the next 30 days, essentially allowing its use without worrying about internet costs.

Catering to Everyone
This upgraded app is a game-changer for vulnerable groups. It’s specifically designed to support individuals with visual, hearing, and speech impairments, as well as those managing epilepsy or mental health challenges. To ensure no one is left behind, PSCA has even added agents trained in sign language, guaranteeing swift and clear communication during critical situations.

Empowering New Safety Features
The app introduces a suite of innovative features aimed at personal security. A new lock screen option lets users easily declare a disability and provide a close relative’s contact for rapid identification and assistance during emergencies. Beyond this, users can benefit from gesture-based SOS alerts, automatic fall detection for epilepsy patients, instant accident notifications, family tracking, and crucial location-based flood alerts.

Comprehensive Emergency Access
Connecting with help is now seamless. Users can directly reach emergency helplines via calls, live chat, or video calls. The app also integrates critical services like the fire brigade, ambulance, Motorway Police, Punjab Highway Patrol, and various disaster response agencies, putting a network of support at your fingertips.

More Than Just Emergencies: Reporting and Tracking
The Public Safety App goes beyond immediate emergencies. Citizens can now track the status of their complaints, check e-challans, and easily report crimes using the “Safety Eye” feature. It also facilitates the registration of missing or found children and provides direct links to the Punjab Chief Minister’s Portal, Inspector General Police Complaint Cell, and Police Khidmat Markaz for broader civic engagement.

Designed for Inclusivity
Available in both Urdu and English, the app truly embodies an accessible and inclusive design philosophy. As MD Younis highlighted, this technology is set to strengthen protection for women, children, the elderly, minorities, and persons with disabilities, ensuring faster and more effective rescue and relief services for everyone in Punjab.
