Solos AirGo Smart Glasses Equip the Blind & Low-Vision with Ally AI

Solos, in collaboration with Envision, a leading company in assistive technology, is revolutionizing support for the blind and low-vision community. They are integrating an AI called Ally, a specialized chatbot designed for individuals with vision impairments, into Solos’ AirGo smart glasses platform. This marks a significant milestone, creating what they describe as a “first-of-its-kind, hands-free, voice-activated wearable.”

These innovative smart glasses are poised to enhance daily life for the low-vision community through a range of powerful features. Users will be able to recognize and read text in real time, obtain descriptions of scenes, recognize faces, and much more, all through simple voice commands.

Imagine scanning documents or photos to get context, asking questions, checking your calendar, or engaging in natural conversations—all effortlessly by speaking to your glasses. The Ally AI is designed to remember context across conversations, providing a seamless and intuitive interaction experience.

While primarily developed for those with visual impairments, the potential applications of the Ally-equipped AirGo glasses extend beyond this group. They could prove immensely useful for the elderly, individuals with cognitive disabilities, and anyone who feels overwhelmed by modern devices but is curious about the practical benefits of AI.

From a design perspective, the AirGo glasses are highly accommodating. They support prescription lenses, feature a clear directional speaker system, and boast a modular component, allowing users to easily swap out different frame fronts to personalize their look.

For those eager to experience this technology, preorders are currently open, with shipments scheduled to begin in October. Prices for the Ally-equipped AirGo glasses start at $399. Every purchase includes a complimentary trial for Ally Pro, which unlocks additional customization options and extended functionality for the AI.
